Education:
B.S. in Child Development from the University of Wisconsin
28 units in Master’s ECE program from San Francisco State University
36 units at professional/post graduate level in administration, counseling and ECE from various universities and university extensions

Experience:
Over 35 years in the ECE field.
Started working at UCUC Preschool in 1988

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Volunteer at La Jolla Playhouse, enjoy gardening, hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends

Bonnie Slade-Castro

My goal at UCUC Preschool is to make every person feel welcome and important. I am committed to being approachable, friendly and interested in educating families about what we can offer them and their child. I am a people-person with many years of experience interacting with and serving the public.

Education:
Many years of experience in training and supervisory work in the flight industry and in school admission procedures

Experience:
Over 15 years in the flight industry as an International and Domestic Flight Attendant, Director of Customer Service on-board airplanes, Supervisor of Flight Attendants, Manager of Flight Attendants in San Francisco, and Interviewer of Flight Attendant Applicants for TWA
Over 5 years experience doing personnel work for United Airlines in San Francisco
10 years experience as the Director of Admission for a private school in Menlo Park CA which included an elementary and 3 preschool locations
Admin Asst at UCUC Preschool and Church since 2006

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Served as PTA President, President of Clipped Wings, on Trinity Preschool Board of Directors, Children’s Ministry Team, Sunday School Teacher, tennis, golf, gardening, reading and being with my family and friends

Marilyn Kennedy

Class: 5-Day Older

Education:
B.A. in Social Science from San Diego State University
Has earned 42 units in Early Childhood Education from San Diego Community College and UCSD extension

Certification:
Site Supervisor Permit from the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing

Experience:
Has been teaching preschool since 1992 and has been at UCUC Preschool since the Fall of 2003.

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Cooking, traveling, exercise, dance, music, pets, skiing (both water and snow), volunteer work and collecting Pez.

Margaret Miller

Class: 5-Day Older

Education:
B.A. in English from All Saints’ College in Kerala, India M. A. in English & Literature from University of Kerala

Experience:
Taught English in India for 5 years at St. Joseph’s College
Worked at UCUC Preschool since 1990

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Team sports, cooking, reading, gardening, languages and linguistics

Randee Lynch

Class: 3-Day Older

Education:
Has an Associate in Science Degree in Child Development from Mesa College

Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher Permit

Experience:
Three years in an adult education program for parents & children
Worked at UCUC Preschool since 2004

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Anything outdoors: kayaking, fishing, bicycling, walking at the beach, watching my son play water polo and spending time with my family

Kathy Brightman

Class: 3-Day Older

Education:
Majored in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Education for 2 years at Point Loma Nazarene University
Has earned 33 Early Childhood Education units

Experience:
Started at UCUC Preschool in 1998. Took 3 year Leave of Absence (2002-2005) to be home with her baby and returned in 2005

Walking and outdoor adventures

Suzy Foster

Class: 2-Day Older

Education:
B. S. in Health Science with emphasis in Elementary Education from San Diego State University
Has earned 38 units in Child Development from Mesa College

Certification:
Child Development Site Supervisor Permit and Child Development Teacher Permit ­ both from CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing

Experience:
Has been teaching since 1986. Taught Preschool through 6th Grade
Has been at UCUC Preschool since 1994

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Spending time with my very large family and spending time outdoors: hiking, biking and at the beach

Martha Amador

Class: 2-Day Older

Education:
Has earned over 90 units from Grossmont & Mesa Colleges
33 units in Child Development and Education

Experience:
Worked for 12 years as a special needs instructional aide with the San Diego Unified School District
Has worked many years as an in-home child care provider for individual families
Has worked for UCUC Preschool since Sep 2007

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Sewing, walking on the beach, kayaking and boating and making jewelry

Carol Frasier

Class: Both 3-Day Younger and 2-Day Younger

Education:
A.A. in Child Development from Mesa College
B.A. in Elementary Education with emphasis on Special Education
Has earned additional units in Early Childhood Education from various universities and extensions as well as Montessori Training Centers

Over 30 years in the Early Childhood Development field
Has worked at UCUC Preschool since 1992

Traveling, reading, swimming and scrap booking

Carolyn Nelson

Class: Both 3-Day Younger and 2-Day Younger

Education:
Has an Associate Science Degree in Child Development from San Diego Mesa College.

Experience:
Thirteen years working in preschools as a teacher and an aide.
Started working at UCUC Preschool in 2011.

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Horseback riding, camping, hiking and outdoor activities.
